Our mission

Introducing eHealth applications and the discipline of Biomedical and Health Informatics (BMHI) into healthcare requires well-educated and trained professionals. Education is the most effective way to improve how health professionals accept and use digital health. Education was the first working group EFMI established, and its members have helped update the IMIA Recommendations on Education in BMHI.

  • Education and exchange

Share BMHI curricula and teaching methods, and support the exchange of students and teachers between EFMI countries.

  • Programme quality

Promote the implementation and accreditation of European BMHI programmes, in cooperation between EFMI and IMIA.

  • Knowledge and skills

Map BMHI programmes in an open database that continues the former WG/AC2 database, and support certification of BMHI knowledge and skills.

  • International cooperation

Develop educational recommendations and share WG activities at conferences such as MIE, STC and MEDINFO.

Teach with AI, responsibly

Give teachers practical guidance on generative AI that respects students' data and European values. Visit the GenAI Lab.
