Open knowledge
Open knowledge & EU resources
We publish our work openly and build on European infrastructures for open science, open data and open education. Here is what we use, and how you can use it too.
Our open policy
Open content
All text on this site is licensed CC BY 4.0. Reuse it with attribution.
Open code
The site's code is MIT-licensed and public on GitHub. Copy it for your own working group.
Open data
The European programme database will be downloadable and deposited yearly on Zenodo with a DOI.
FAIR metadata
Pages carry schema.org metadata; publications link to DOIs, and we encourage ORCID iDs for all members.
Open science infrastructures
| Infrastructure | What it is | How the WG uses it |
|---|---|---|
| Zenodo | Free repository run by CERN and funded by the EU (OpenAIRE). Gives every deposit a DOI. | Yearly snapshots of the programme database, slides, course templates, accepted manuscripts. |
| OpenAIRE | EU network that links publications, data, software and projects. OpenAIRE Explore searches all of them. | Finding open outputs of EU education projects; making our outputs visible. |
| EOSC | European Open Science Cloud: a federation of research data and services. | Discovering datasets and services for teaching with real-world data. |
| ORCID | Persistent identifier for researchers. | Linking members to their publications in the member list. |
| Open Research Europe | The European Commission's open access publishing platform for Horizon Europe results. | Publishing results of funded projects at no cost to authors. |
| data.europa.eu | The official portal for European open data. | Open datasets for student exercises (health, population, digital skills). |
| Europe PMC | Open biomedical literature database, part of the European life-science infrastructure. | Reading lists and literature search exercises. |
Open educational resources
DOAB & DOAJ
Directories of open access books and journals, many on health informatics.
CIDHR
Catalogue and index of digital health teaching resources, with a multilingual ontology.
Health data standards
Openly available specifications to teach interoperability: HL7 FHIR, openEHR, SNOMED CT (licence via member countries).
EU funding for digital health education
Programmes that fund education, training and open resources in digital health. Check the EU Funding & Tenders Portal for open calls. TO VALIDATE: current calls
Erasmus+
Cooperation partnerships, Erasmus Mundus joint master's degrees, blended intensive programmes (short summer schools) and staff mobility.
Digital Europe Programme
Funds advanced digital skills, including master's programmes and short courses in AI, data and cybersecurity.
EU4Health
Funds training of the health workforce in digital skills, linked to the European Health Data Space.
Horizon Europe
Research and innovation. Open access to publications is mandatory, so results become open knowledge.
COST Actions
Networking funding for researchers across Europe: meetings, training schools and short-term scientific missions.
EU policies that shape BMHI education
European Health Data Space
The EHDS regulation creates rights to access health data and rules for secondary use, so health professionals need new data skills.
AI Act – AI literacy
Organisations using AI must make sure their staff have sufficient AI literacy (Article 4).
Micro-credentials & European Digital Credentials
A European approach to small, stackable courses with digitally signed certificates.
Digital Education Action Plan
The EU plan for high-quality, inclusive digital education and digital skills.
